Life ain't always easy.

You know what sucks about chronic illness?

That word "chronic."

It means you may have a good spell for longer than you thought possible, but those nasty white blood cells that attack, inflame, and irritate? Those suckers come back.

We've been through several steroid treatments this week and nothing is working.

We started an antibiotic today to rule out possible infection.

But at the root of it, we're thinking the EE is back.

And that makes me sad.

Dude, I so don't like weeks like this:

Waiting to see what the antibiotic does.

Waiting on decisions from UNC.

Waiting to sleep again.

And I'm not gonna lie, we need more than sleep.

We need rest. You know what I mean?

So I'm praying this verse with a vengeance this week. And I know God will be faithful.

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
-Matthew 11:28-29

  1. oh rachel, I am so sorry. How can I help. Do you want me to come clean your house, do your laundry, bring you a meal, take your kids? What anything!

  3. I am so sorry you are going through this (again). I do want to share that your post today specifically and greatly encouraged someone that I love and the verse you quoted has already had a big impact. I praise God that even through hardhship, he is able to use you and Owen for his glory. I have full faith that each of you will plow, crawl, scratch and fight through this next part of the journey to victory.

  4. I am sad to see this little guy is struggling and that all of you are too. My heart breaks, yet I'm finding strength in my prayers for him, because we all know our God is faithful and will find a path through this storm. Until the right meds and treatment are found for this flare-up, please know we are praying for Owen, for his family (even praying for our own strength as loving grandparents longing to take this burden from him), for his medical team. It is so hard to be praising the victories of his journey one week, and seeking comfort in the storm the next week. We remain faithful to our faithful God. Sending LOTS of love to all of you!
